What can you expect from Microsoft® on Windows® 8 at MWC this year?
On Wednesday at 6 AM PT, Microsoft will showcase Windows 8 at the Mobile World Congress. Microsoft has a lot to offer this year at MWC. Let’s see what you can expect from them at MWC this time.
Microsoft will release the consumer preview of its new operating system Windows 8 at the Mobile World Congress. Isn't it a little odd that Microsoft chose a mobile congress to unveil the consumer preview? It could have done that at CES that happened last month. It’s an event that’s not entirely focused on mobile devices.
This is actually a great platform for Microsoft to release Windows 8 at a mobile congress. Microsoft believes and it is heavily banking on Windows on ARM and Windows for Tablets a lot. And since Windows 8 is basically built for touch-based gadgets like tablets and phones, this looks like a perfect place and time.
Microsoft is planning to take users a step closer to the integration of PCs, tablets, and mobile phones through its operating system. We spoke about Apple doing the same thing some time back with the OS X 10.8 upgrade.
And there’s some good news for users in general because Microsoft has lowered the specifications required for Windows Phone. This means Windows Phone will be available to users at a lower cost too. Nokia has already released Lumia 610 at the MWC this year with the new lowered specs.
All in all, it looks like a great year for Microsoft. Good times are ahead for both users and the company. Do not forget to check the Consumer Preview version of Windows 8 today!
