Windows® 8 download count has crossed a million already!
That’s the number and it’s official! Well, we don’t have the exact numbers at the moment, but this tweet from BuildWindows8, an official account of the team that’s working on Windows 8 reported that the total number of downloads for Windows 8 Consumer Preview has crossed a million in the first 24 hours! This clearly shows us that people are interested in knowing more about this operating system which Microsoft is really proud of.
If you remember correctly, back in those days when Windows 7 was released, Microsoft had a limit for downloads. It was 2.5 million and they had to extend the download period for a while. Though Microsoft has never released the figure for the number of downloads of Windows 7, we’re sure that it hadn’t crossed a million in just 24 hours. This is great news for Microsoft and for the people who are interested in its new operating system.
Even the Developer Preview version of this operating system released last September, which was open to download for all did not gather this much attention from people. Yes, let’s not jump to conclusions and say that there are one million people in the world using it right now, but the first step to download it, has been made, right?
Certainly the re-imagination is working for Microsoft. Let’s see how the users react to it in the near future and the number of people who upgrade / buy the operating system. Looks like a war call to other competitors of Microsoft, isn’t it? Cross your fingers and hope for the best!
