CyberLink launched video editing apps for Windows 8
CyberLink made a slew of announcements for lovers of video editing. The company launched three new touch apps for Windows 8-based tablets. These video editing apps, which are available as a separate offering, include the PowerDirector Touch App, the PowerDVD Touch App, and the YouCam Touch App. CyberLink also introduced its first software for Apple Macs. Lastly, the company added AudioDirector and ColorDirector as updates to its PC-based multimedia content creation suite called Director Suite 11.
What the company says
According to Richard Carriere, VP for global marketing, “If consumers are going to invest $500 in a camcorder or DSLR camera, they want to be able to do a lot with what they produce.” He also added, “But high-end video editing software from companies like Avid is so difficult to use that you practically need to go to school to learn it.”
About Windows 8 tablets apps
The PowerDirector Touch App is used for editing video on tablets. The PowerDVD Touch App, on the other hand, is used for hardware-accelerated playback of MPEG-2 video. The third app, which is the YouCam Touch App, captures videos and photos from a tablet's camera and can be used to give finishing touch to them.
Updates to PC-based Director Suite 11
The new AudioDirector assists professionals with sound design, while ColorDirector is used for color enhancements. According to Carriere, the new AudioDirector and ColorDirector applications are targeted at more advanced users.
With AudioDirector, users can directly edit audio track embedded in the video. For example, a video-referenced editing tool can be used to synchronize voiceover or apply audio effects to specific video frames.
ColorDirector helps make modifications to hue, saturation, lightness, and white balance in a video. You can also use mask and motion tracking features to make changes to only selected parts of a video.
CyberLink also made significant additions to its PowerDirector 10 suite. This includes content-aware editing, ripple editing, and an overhauled Design Studio. The revamped Design Studio features four new tools - Title Designer, Menu Designer, Partical Designer, and PiP Designer. These tools are used for designing titles and menus and adding effects and motion from directly within a timeline.
Director Suite 11 is available at the company’s online store while retailers will be able to offer the same to you from October. The suite is priced at $299.95.
