eBooks or Print Books: The Latest Prediction is Here!
Have you been following the ebooks vs. print books debate? Well, here’s the latest development on this front.
As per a recent prediction by the renowned professional services network PricewaterCoopers, eBooks are all set to take the industry by storm and if their prediction comes out true, this ‘winning the race’ could be as soon as 2018. There are several reasons that have contributed towards the popularity of eBooks, since the launch of Kindle a few years ago, which includes portability, affordability, and also ease of use. These and the growing urge to become tech-savvy are major factors influencing the decision for readers to move away from paperbacks and hardcover books to their electronic counterparts.
This prediction stands in sharp contrast to another prediction done a few months ago in which Nielsen Books & Consumer stated that eBooks stood a consolable third as compared to hard-covers and paper books, at least in the first half of the year.
As per the survey, eBooks comprised of 23% of sales whereas hard-covers made sales of about 25% and paperbacks sold units comprising of 42%.
