Steven Sinofsky, president, Windows, officially showcased the upcoming version of Windows for the first time at the D9 Conference in California on June 1st, 2011. As of now, this new version is popularly known as Windows 8. Windows 8 is basically a complete new version of Windows operating system with lots of new features and apps. It is entirely different from the earlier versions in terms of interface.

Windows 8 Features

Some of the features of the new interface of Windows 8 which were demonstrated are really very useful and interactive.

  • Tile-based Start Screen

On this screen, all the apps launch at a much faster speed. This new start screen is entirely different from the previous ones. In the new Start screen, you will get a full screen and adjustable view of the apps and programs in the Start list.

  • Live Tiles with Notifications

This feature shows you the icons/ tiles with updated information about the programs and apps installed on your system.

  • Touch-Optimized Browsing

The all new touch-optimized browsing experience gels well with the new Internet Explorer 10 having advanced features and fast speed.

  • Switch Between Apps

This new operating system will also give you the liberty of switching between apps easily using your fingers and re-scaling an app or program. You can position one app on either side of the screen and then work on another one. All this will be so convenient and will accelerate the working capabilities of individuals up to a great extent.

Plus there are more such interesting features. Let the excitement continues…
