Microsoft® launching Windows® Phone in China
The Chinese press has received invitations from Microsoft for the release of Windows Phones it seems. The invitation apparently says “the carefully designed, refined, and all-new Windows Phone 7.5 will be landing in China”.
A few other Chinese papers have also reported about the release of Nokia Lumia phones which sport the Windows Phone 7.5 on March 28th this year. There’s no official announcement about the handsets in which Windows Phone 7.5 would be sold, but HTC Titan, which is called HTC Triumph in China, is being sold. HTC Triumph has Windows Phone 7.5 or Tango as they call it.
This also looks like a great chance for Nokia to capture a share in the Chinese market. As of now, the Chinese market is heavily dominated by Android phones and Nokia’s Symbian has the second highest OS market share. Let’s see how they fare in China considering Apple is not their biggest competitor there.
