Microsoft is set to finish working on Windows 8 by this summer according to the reports. This new operating system should be released by this October according to the sources which have knowledge on the schedule.
October is a great time to be selling a product that a lot of people are expecting to see and use. With Christmas around the corner to help the sales, Windows 8 should easily get the initial push.
Microsoft is also planning for an event in April, according to the sources. This event is for its partners in the industry and in that event details on Windows 8 and its release strategy would be discussed with them.
The initial devices that would be rolled out would be running on Intel and ARM chips. The tablets that Microsoft would release would only run on ARM processors. Since Microsoft is trying to control the hardware and the software that goes in the ARM-based devices, the quality of these tablets could be great.
