The new Windows 8 from Microsoft will come equipped with Windows Defender as its in-built antivirus. Of late, there has been a lot of debate about the need for another security software for Windows operating system. Some feel that the presence of Defender in Windows 8 will hamper the sale of other security solutions while others believe that the pre-installed software cannot guarantee total protection against virus attack.
In fact, there is a rumor doing the rounds that the Windows Defender in the Developer Preview is not as potent as Security Essentials and that it comes nowhere close to standard security solutions like Norton.
Symantec Corporation, it seems, is indifferent to all these observations and assertions. One of the new versions of its Norton 360 antivirus is Windows 8 Beta ready. There is a possibility that the Norton antivirus could be successful among those Windows 8 users who would like to have comprehensive protection on a variety of platforms.
