Only 2% of the total downloaded apps are for Windows®
According to a report by ABI research, market share of Windows apps is just 2% in 2012. This report predicts that a total app download this year could be close to 36 billion and majority of these apps would be Android and iOS apps.
This does not come as a surprise but 83% is the share by Android and iOS apps. Currently, Windows apps are behind Blackberry and Symbian’s apps, but considering that these apps are new to the market, the figure is not that bad.
There are also many factors for such a small figure for Windows apps. Major reason is, Windows Phones or other devices are still used by fewer people. Once the number of users for these devices increases, the download count for Windows apps would rise too.
However, this does not seem to affect app developers and most of them still consider that the new Windows platform is great for the mobiles and apps. To know more about this, read the complete story here.
