Samsung® bringing Microsoft® Windows 8 Start button back
Samsung has introduced a new widget called the ‘S Launcher’ in its recently introduced Windows 8 desktops at a technology conference in Germany. The S Launcher in these all-in-one PCs works just like the old ‘Start’ button. When you click the widget and type some text, it instantly shows you the settings and apps that relate to your text. These desktops come with a high-definition touch display and feature a separate settings icon. With this icon, you can quickly access the most commonly needed controls.
Microsoft’s move to replace the ‘Start’ button in the Windows 8 user interface is not finding many takers. Although the functions of ‘Start’ button are still present in Windows 8 in various places, users will surely miss the easy-to-use functionality provided by the ‘Start’ button.
According to a Mashable article, Samsung’s S Launcher on Windows 8 is like “seeing an old friend in a new country.”
In S Launcher, you can simply drag and drop apps and files for easy access. You can also disable those apps when you do not need them. The big icons (bigger than those in Windows taskbar) are a plus in S Launcher. The additional settings icon maintains a collection of everyday use icons – such as user accounts, power management, display settings and sound - at one place on the desktop.
Enjoy Windows 8 with Samsung. Let us know your thoughts on the same in the comments.
