All of us know that Windows 8 is going to be released for desktops as well portable devices like laptops and tablets. The battery life of a portable device seldom fails to concern its user. Therefore, Microsoft is trying that the Windows 8 apps that it creates save a lot of energy i.e. they do not consume a lot of battery life.
The apps will be in one of the three states:
- The apps can run actively in the foreground and perform most of the tasks that they are supposed to.
- The apps can be in a suspended state or they will use very little resources to carry out background activities like copying files etc.
- In the third case, the apps will perform some common tasks while they are running in the background. These may include playing music, downloading a file, uploading a file to a website, printing etc.
