Acer and Lenovo have jumped on the latest bandwagon and they too will launch their Windows 8 tablets in the third quarter of the year 2012. The official announcement may happen at the Intel Developer Forum that will be held in September 2012.
The tablets to be released by Acer and Lenovo will be provided with Intel's Clover Trail platform. The latter is an Atom chip whose release could coincide with that of the new Windows 8.
Intel has high hopes from the dual-core Clover Trail that is expected to enhance the performance of tablet PCs and make them energy-efficient.
It seems Acer and Lenovo are keen to be the first ones to launch tablets that run on Windows 8. The two companies already have one tablet each, Iconia Tab W500 and IdeaPad Tablet P1, that run on Windows 7. This prior experience should give the two renowned brands an added advantage.
