Removing password to a Local User Account in Windows 8By Trishna ,Monday, August 20th, 2012
Sometimes, having a password on a computer that no one else has access to can be irritating. When you have a computer that is only used by you or members of your family, you wouldn’t need to have a password for your computer, right? Imagine typing the password every single time you have to access your computer. So if you think you don’t need a password for Windows 8 on your computer, you can remove it. Let’s see how you can remove a password for your Local User Account that you have on Windows 8 easily.
To begin the process, you need to open the Charms menu. You can access the Charms menu from the top right corner of your screen. Once you move the mouse (pointer) to the top right corner of the screen, the Charms menu would be displayed on the screen. Once you see Charms menu on the screen, you need to click on the ‘Settings’ option on that menu. And when you are on the Settings screen, you would find the option ‘Change PC settings’ there. Select that option to proceed further.
Once you click on the ‘Change PC settings’ option, you would be seeing different options from which you have to select the option ‘Users’. In the ‘Users’ option, you can find the option ‘Change your password’. Select the option ‘Change your password’ to proceed further. Once you select that option, you would be asked to type your current password to make any changes to it. Once you type in your current password, click ‘Next’. Then you would be seeing a ‘Change your password’ window. In that window, you need to leave the fields for the new password blank. Once you leave those fields blank, click on the option ‘Next’. Then all you would have to do is to select the option ‘Finish’ for your changes to be saved by the computer.
Once you finish this process, the password for your account would be removed from the operating system and you wouldn’t have to type any password to access your computer. You can test this by locking your computer and unlocking it again. You would not be required to input a password anymore! With this simple process you can remove the password for your Local User Accounts on Windows 8! As usual, here’s a video that explains you how to do the above procedure in a few simple and easy steps.
